Attention KMAC Family,
Yongmudo is a new breed of mixed martial arts inspired by the Korean martial arts of Taekwondo and Hapkido, which we specialize here at KMAC. It is with our great pleasure that we share very exciting news about how the United States fared in the Yongmudo World Championships. As Grandmaster Jung is the vice-president of the United States Yongmudo Association. Further, our KMAC staff is extremely proud that we have two national team members that represented the United States! Only 10 people were selected from all over the United States to participate.
Yongmudo World Championships RESULTS
The results from the United States of America’s trip to South Korea was outstanding! We were able to bring home:
Important Notes
The trip involved two tournaments: the Cheongju World Martial Arts Masterships and Yong In World Championships. Alex is the first and only American ever to win a gold medal in the Yong In World Championships. More impressively, Alex was one of only three international competitors outside of Korea to win gold. Alex defeated world class international competitors from Holland, the Netherlands, and Indonesia. One of the many highlights include a powerful kick that caught the attention of everyone in the stadium. Inquire Grandmaster or Alex for videos of the other exciting moments including that one.
In addition to starting a family and maintaining our fantastic school, Master Mar somehow was able to find time to represent the United States in Yongmudo. Unfortunately, he was unable to place; fighting stiff competition from Mongolia. However, whenever he is not at KMAC his presence in the Yongmudo Berkeley program is not only appreciated, but coveted. Dr. Russell Ahn, the head of the Berkeley Yongmudo program, routinely requests his attendance at Berkeley Yongmudo practices for his world-class training.
This championship would not have been possible without Grandmaster Jung’s unwavering support and his huge commitment to bringing Yongmudo to the United States. He is not only the vice-president of the United States Yongmudo Association, he is also a huge supporter of the Yongmudo Berkeley program.
If you’re interested in learning more about these events and participating in or preparing for future championships (it is only every two years!) the time to start is now! Please inquire from Grandmaster Jung or Master Mar.
As always if you have any comments, questions, concerns, or want to congratulate the competitors, feel free to contact us here at the school.
