KMAC Hooded Sweatshirts, Sweatshirt Jackets & Merit Badges
If you’re unsure whether or not you should purchase a KMAC sweatshirt or sweatshirt jacket (a.k.a. “Hoodies”), please review the below guidelines.
- Competition Team: All Competition Team members are required to have a Black KMAC sweatshirt. It is mandatory because team members travel to tournaments or other events (i.e. exhibitions), and it is one way in which team members, as representatives of KMAC, express their school pride, unity, and even their personal achievements through merit badges earned and displayed in a designated area on the sweatshirt (typically along their sleeve). For this reason, a zippered KMAC sweatshirt is highly recommended over a pullover style because it is easier to sew on these badges with the zippered style and for the Competition Team to match and be uniform.
- KMAC Students & Parents: Whilst it is not mandatory for KMAC students who are not participating with the Competition Team to purchase a KMAC sweatshirt, it’s still recommended for school spirit and also because all KMAC students, regardless of being on the Competition Team or not, are eligible to earn merit badges.
Merit badges are a way of motivating students by challenging them to excel beyond their personal best, measuring a student’s growth as well as marking their achievements aside from belt promotions. However, in order to be recognized for a merit badge a student must consistently wear their jacket in order to be rewarded. Upon earning a merit badge, you are expected to have the merit badge sewn onto a designated area of the sweatshirt (typically along their sleeve) by the student’s next class. For this reason, a zippered KMAC sweatshirt is highly recommended over a pullover style because it is easier to sew on these badges with the zippered style.
Examples of KMAC School Merit Badges are as follows:
Tiny Tigers- Tiger Claw badge, Most Improved, Outstanding Student, Best Form, Best Sparring, Academic Achiever, Perfect Attendance, Black Belt Club, Competition Team, etc.
The hooded sweatshirt jackets are designed with our school logo in the left front of the jacket and “KMAC” on the back tail of the jacket.
If you are interested, we are accepting orders at this time. Please forward orders with payment directly to my attention, Grandmaster Jung. Please enclose $50.00 for each sweatshirt in an envelope with the student’s name and sweatshirt size. Please be sure of the size you are ordering because once your order is placed, we cannot exchange it for a different size or return it for a refund. Finally, refunds will only be issued if we are unable to fulfill a minimum order of at least a dozen sweatshirts. Please feel free to to reach out to me with any questions and concerns.
